Shortage of personnel in the service industry of technologic |
|
According to the analytical company Mordor Intelligence, the global market for servicing technological equipment is growing by an average of 2.19% per year, while many countries around the world are experiencing a shortage of technical personnel. This problem is also relevant for the Russian market - there are not enough qualified specialists with the necessary skills to meet the personnel needs of the industry.
The shortage of specialists is particularly acute against the backdrop of increasingly stringent requirements for the reliability of technological equipment, the increasing social media marketing service complexity of the technologies used, and the growing need for continuous, high-quality maintenance.
It is possible to identify both global reasons for the shortage of personnel, which have affected the labor market of many developed countries, and those that are characteristic only of Russia.
Demographic changes
The most acute shortage of personnel is observed in countries that have experienced a demographic transition - a rapid decline in birth and death rates, resulting in a reduction in the working-age population. These include, among others, European countries, the USA, Canada, Australia, and South Korea.
In Russia, the reason for the shortage of personnel was the negative demographic processes that occurred in the 90s and 2000s, when the mortality rate significantly exceeded the birth rate.
The consequences of these processes were a sharp reduction in workers aged 25 to 35 years - a category of specialists who already have professional experience and, at the same time, can quickly adapt to new conditions and technologies. The number of entry-level specialists aged 20-24 years has also significantly decreased - over the past 10 years, their number has decreased by 5 million.
The pandemic also had a significant impact on the labor market and the demographic situation, causing excess mortality, including among the working-age population, a change in the intensity of work of some of those who had recovered, and the spread of remote work.
Social and economic factors
Young people are not interested in blue-collar and engineering professions - in 2023, many universities announced a shortage of budget places after the admissions campaign. The reason for such low interest is the growing prestige of more modern professions. In addition, the country's industrial and scientific potential was significantly reduced in the 1990s, when a large number of engineers and technicians were not in demand on the labor market.
