Since Apple cannot be labeled as a gatekeeper in the Mac market, Apple Intelligence features are now available to European Mac users . To benefit from Apple Intelligence features on Macs, users must first install the macOS 15.1 update and have a device with at least an M1 processor and configured in English. Apple Intelligence will soon be available in other languages on Macs.

Apple's vision of AI revolves around the idea that the software should have broad access to user data on the company's devices. However, the DMA requires the large online platforms, the so-called "gatekeepers", to guarantee that other providers have access to their technology and not to favour their own products and services. However, the DMA provides for exceptions to the rule if compliance with the law affects the "integrity" of the services of the companies directly concerned.
